Stephen Thomas reported news for radio stations and newspapers for 12 years, loving every minute of covering the courts and government. Unlike when he started in the news business decades ago, his coverage of government is influenced by his legal education and by his diverse policy background—first, advocating public policy as a K Street “flack” and speechwriter for the veterans lobby, second, as a speechwriter for the Colorado governor’s public health and environment secretary, and, third, as a policy analyst for an executive-branch agency. Stephen plans to return to “the newsroom” while he wraps up his doctoral degree in public administration at Liberty University. He has a master’s degree in compliance law from St. Mary’s University School of Law and a B.A. from the University of Maryland.
